Whig historiography, Whiggism, the Whig interpretation of history... These concepts, which seem very distant from us, actually point to a way of viewing and narrating history that is not unfamiliar to the public and is even widely appreciated: progress will inevitably defeat reaction, freedom will inevitably defeat despotism, reason will inevitably defeat ignorance, and justice will inevitably defeat evil. And all this happens because, under the leadership of certain great figures, people have embarked on a path that conforms to the correct historical trend. So, how did Whig historiography emerge?
