213 Undercurrents in Germany Behind the Attempted Coup

On December 7, German police conducted raids in 11 states, arresting 25 people on suspicion of plotting to overthrow the government. The leaders were Heinrich XIII of the House of Reuss and retired paratrooper Rüdiger von Pescatore. The coup organization was deeply influenced by the Reichsbürger movement and QAnon conspiracy theories. This operation was one of the largest police actions against extremists in German history, with the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) playing significant roles.
