The German series Babylon Berlin not only contributed a "meme" to Chinese social media—"You betrayed the working class"—but also revealed various aspects of German society during the Weimar era. During those modern, crazy, and even dangerous dozen-plus years, amidst the surging political struggles between the left and the right, sensational crimes bred in the dark corners of Berlin. In this episode, we invite world history researcher and renowned translator Lu Dapeng to start from Babylon Berlin, combining various historical details to reconstruct that bizarre Weimar era.
